A Writer's Life
The ups and downs of one author's writing life
Welcome to my rebooted author's life
Why rebooted?
Well...my writing (and editing--and publishing) life got sidetracked 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with a disease that causes severe pain. I fought it for the first few years...and paid the price of days that I couldn't get out of bed. Eventually I learned the difference between what I could do and what I should do. Then I began doing less and less: first the physical things like dancing and shopping, then the activities that required great concentration like writing and editing.
I held on to a thread of hope and fought back when I had a shred of energy...until I injured myself. Injury upon insult! I began to fade, until no one offered any hope anymore. So it was left to me to pull myself up by my bootstraps and find help myself. I kept going back to those who had lost hope in me, and practically begged. Then I ran with the crumbs they threw my way.
It took a lot of jumping through hoops, building trust (both ways) with a new doctor and her staff, and some shockingly large bills before I finally received some treatment that worked. We're not all the way there yet, but hopefully by the end of 2023.
In the meantime, I am happy for the lesser amounts of pain, and the opening it offers to begin writing again! It's time to start putting in some butt-in-chair time with my most recent Work In Progress (WIP) and get some writing done!
